Socio-Economic Development

In 2017, Levy Africa Network partnered with the International Hotel School and Sun International, which sponsored the Sun International Community Project to coincide with the launch of Time Square in Menlyn, Tshwane. Time Square is the second-largest casino in South Africa and the biggest development in the hospitality, gaming and leisure industry in the last decade.

Youth unemployment in the City of Tshwane is 32.6%. While this is below the provincial and national averages, it continues to be a major issue for the City. 500 people from the surrounding areas of Mamelodi and Soshanguve were given an intensive 6 week course offering hospitality skills and practical economics training, empowering the delegates to be gainfully employed or to start their own ventures

The hospitality training was offered by International Hotel School. Levy Africa Network delivered an enhanced course on practical economics with a key focus on entrepreneurship and stimulating youth employment.

Youth Employment Scheme (YES) – Skills Development

In previous years, Levy Africa Network has worked with various NGO’s to develop training for young matriculants and or graduates with no work experience and little understanding of the work environment, the nature of the employer / employee relationship, the employer’s expectations and the demands on a new employee. We have an extensive offering to assist employers with on-boarding new employees with no prior work experience, and should the requirement arise, assisting these employees with conducting a job search and preparing for interviews.
